Sunday afternoon in Fall
Listening to Sonny Terry and Bobby McGee
Thinking of being with you last night
Sipping on my leaded glass of whiskey
Mellow is my mood
Thinking how warm your hands were
As I held my lighter
To your cigarette
Was I glad I’d met you
Baby you know I have no regrets
Our conversation was so easy
Like intimate friends of years
Your words spilled out quickly
As rain on a winters day
I left everything aside
As I held you at the departure gate
I whispered to you
Hey, your going to be ok.
You’re safe now , you’re welcome to stay.
Yeah it’s a grey Fall Sunday
And I know the Summer sun’s
Never going away.
