Vanquish

It’s now, it’s time

I know from the tingling in my spine

It’s today, it could be tomorrow

Yet not yesterday, I wasn’t ready then

No today is when it’s most right

It’s now, I know

Time to vanquish the ghosts

Of my past

It’s nothing personal

Only that our time has passed

You can’t move forward

Dragging history

No the weight is too much

Each dawn of the new day

You begin the next chapter

Scribing across that blank page that’s today

Gifted to us all on awaking

To really live, there’s no other way

So collect the memories

Be they comforting or sad

Go forward strong and curious

Upon the paths that lie ahead

Vanquish your ghosts

Start living again, this day.

On Another Night

If I couldn’t see you

You’d still be as beautiful as you are

Inside and out,

As a shining star

If I couldn’t hear you

Your voice would sound as sweet

As the sound butterflies wings make

In a summers heat

If I couldn’t hold you

My empty arms would ache

As no one else could fill

The space you would take

If I couldn’t love you

I know my heart would break

As I know loving you

Could never be a mistake

If I could be anywhere

I’d go by land, sea or air

To be where you are

No distance too far

Now it’s late tonight

As I these words I write

I wish you’d roll over

And tell me to turn off the light

You’re not here

Though perhaps you will be

On another night

Treasure

Time, something you have

Just never know for how long

You can’t buy it

You can’t save it

It’s infinite yet you’re only along for your designated ride

Time so easily given

Can never be taken away

More precious than gold though

Usually only revered when old

Time to simply ask

How are you doing

I’m thinking of you

Or a good morning.

Mere seconds to acknowledge another

Last a lifetime in memories

They may savour

Time to play with a child

Slices of that you’ve got

So many wasted as you believe

You have a lot

The I love you never said

The missed good night

As you lay in bed

The parent you didn’t call

The call to aid to others

That you failed to answer

Yes a treasure given you at birth

That must be answered for

When of your time you have a dearth

Give of it to others

For they may obtain more not

Make good use of that you’ve got.
