Being Human

Not boomers or millennials

Nor Gen whatever’s

No tribal affiliation

Or political stripe

No ageists or kids

No white, black or other

No gender or preferences

For we are all as one another

I am not fed, if others go hungry

Not sheltered am I

While others sleep rough

Not healthy, as others lack

Even basic medical care

No wealth justified

As others struggle on poor

No privilege earned

As others discriminated

No representation valid

While others go unnoticed

We are but one,

Meant to support each other

While with nature be in harmony

Divest each of us

Our accumulated good fortune

Rather ensure the success

Of all those around us

No countries better than another

No colour or creed

That trumps the other

Only together, with care for each other

Will we ever reach

The fullness of humanity

Unprecedented Situation

Confusion reigns all around

Politicians self promote

Yet no truth abounds

Stress and worry

Mount on our brains

Know this is our reality

You’re not insane

Media quantity focused

Quality of posts or news flashes

Go unnoticed

Announcers smile after stories

About loss of life

As they mindlessly comment

On latest Tik Tok posts

For those struggling

The world is a stranger

Holidays pass with not even a notice

Super Bowl games, latest movie

New York Times best seller

To be read never

Living in a parallel world

Where food and shelter

Commandeer every waking moment ahead

As sleep becomes only relief

Comatose yet in peace

While lying sleeping in bed.

The world is not right

It’s imbalances clear

Children go hungry

While sports fans cheer

Governments take breaks

While their constituents suffer

There’s no outlet for the desperation they utter

In the middle of all this

That’s amiss

What’s real and important

In life

Surfaces quick

Each day it’s your gift

Live it, enjoy it

In spite of your strife

If you live someone

Tell them

If you need help then ask

If the sunrise makes you happy

Celebrate its arrival

If loneliness at night

Makes you shudder

Reach out to another

When you have little

Give what you can

To make another’s day

A bit better than.
